Platforms that matter

The people, constraints, incentives, and inconvenient facts behind work that actually ships. I’m Justin Imhoff. This is a field guide for building engineering organizations, software, and agents that can be trusted with real work.
The working theory
I lead teams through the moments where product, architecture, operations, and now agents start talking over one another. The job is to find the useful signal, make a decision, and build the mechanism that keeps working after the meeting ends.
I’ve done that in global engineering orgs, early-stage companies, and revenue-critical platforms across ML, security, cloud, and mobile. The same rules apply to agents: good context, sharp boundaries, observable results.
The longer version →The record
Not a victory lap. More a collection of useful receipts.
Built and scaled the engineering, QA, DevOps, and ML muscle around products where reliability and trust were not optional.
Identity · ML · PlatformLed teams building enterprise mobile security across the ecosystems people actually use, with a steady focus on delivery and operations.
Security · MobileBuilt cloud, API, and mobile products with startup constraints: limited time, limited money, and no patience for ceremonial work.
Product · CloudMethods, not mysteries
Write the decision, the owner, and the tradeoff. If the work is important, a person or an agent needs the same shared version of reality.
Agents get useful when the goal, constraints, tools, and definition of done are explicit. The same is true for teams.
The fastest route to better software is often listening to the people explaining why it hurts.
Good guardrails make teams and agents faster. Heroics are a fine origin story and a terrible operating model.
