Management
What I optimize for
- Clear ownership, healthy collaboration, and fast decision cycles.
- Growth paths that do not rely on heroics.
- A team shape that matches the product and platform surface area.
My default approach
- Start with structure: team topology, interfaces, and decision boundaries.
- Make work visible: small written artifacts beat long meetings.
- Coach managers and tech leads first, then scale via mechanisms.
Team topology patterns
I lean toward platform enablement plus product pods, with explicit contracts and clear escalation paths. When I centralize, I do it for leverage and reuse.
Leadership snapshot
- Built and scaled global engineering, QA, DevOps, and ML teams at Trulioo.
- Established delivery discipline and modern engineering rigor for a new revenue platform.
- Grew emerging leaders into managers through mentorship, clarity, and ownership.
Tools and artifacts I produce
- Career ladders with examples of impact and scope.
- 1:1 templates, skip-level prompts, and performance narratives.
- Promotion packet checklists and calibration prep.
- Delegation playbooks and decision log templates.
Examples
txt
1:1 agenda
- Wins since last week
- Current blockers and risks
- Team health and energy
- What I can unblock for you
- Growth focus for the next month txt
Promotion packet checklist
- Scope and impact summary
- Evidence mapped to level expectations
- Peer and partner feedback
- Risks and mitigations
- Proposed title and comp range txt
Skip-level prompts
- What is slowing the team down?
- Where are we taking on unnecessary risk?
- If you owned one change, what would it be?
- Which decision feels stuck and why? Delegation ladder A ladder for widening ownership safely.
Start with shadowing, then co-driving, then full ownership with explicit success signals. Review early, then step back once feedback loops are stable.
Tradeoffs
- Lightweight process beats heavy agility until coordination costs dominate.
- Centralize when leverage exists; decentralize when domain velocity wins.
- Standards are worth it only if they reduce risk or speed delivery.
Signals I look for
- Teams create their own clarity without waiting on me.
- Decisions are fast, documented, and reversible.
- Managers coach with evidence, not just instinct.
Anti-patterns
- Invisible work, unclear owners, and heroic firefighting.
- Process without outcomes, or outcomes without learning.
- Promotions based on tenure rather than impact.
